A brief history of Kish Island

It is said that since the Achaemenid era, the island has been under Iranian control, with the spread of Islam in the region. The Umayyad Arab caliphs dominated the island of Kish until 249 AH. The Persians took control of the whole Persian gulf region under Al-Bouyeh regime, and this continued until the Timurid Mongols. The golden age of Kish Island was the time of the Seljuks, when it became the largest trading center of the Persian Gulf.
But a bit later, a tripe called "Qiasareh" came to power in Kish – Originally poor people who lived on piracy and day by day fortified economic foundations of their government.
These rulers were descendants of a person called "Qays" – A reason to call the island "Qays".
With the assassination of "King Sultan" - the last ruler of Qiasareh - their reign on the island got over.

In 912 AH Kish was occupied by the Portuguese, but at the end of 1031 AH, Shah Abbas's regent, Imam Ghuli Khan, seized all the islands of the Persian Gulf along with Bahrain. Then Kish was recognized as one of the Iranian islands again.
Kish Island was selected as the first free economic zone in Iran in 1982 and is now one of the most active free zones of the country. One of the goals of Kish Island is the development of tourism and commerce in the region; in addition to its historical attractions, the island has been equipped with numerous hotels and entertainment centers.
